Rod Baker

Optometrist, Children’s Vision Advocate

Rod graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1988 and was appointed Head of Paediatric Services at the ACO in 1994. He was a clinical teacher at the University of Melbourne for 10 years and was for a year President of Optometry Victoria. He has also served on the Board of the ACO, chairing the clinical services committee. He was privileged as an ECO to deliver care in rural Papua New Guinea and later to train Nurse Educators in South Africa. From 2012 to 2017 he worked to support the establishment of the optometry course at Flinders University in Adelaide. He has directed a practice in Sunbury, Victoria since 2005, working with an amazing team of people. He also reflects on the world through singing and writing music and has produced 7 albums of original songs, working collaboratively with many gifted creative writers and performers.
