Associate Prof James Armitage graduated from UniMelb in 1996 and completed MOptom and PhD studies in the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences. After Postdoctoral Fellowships at King’s College London and the BakerIDI Heart and Diabetes Institute he joined Monash University as a group leader. He joined Deakin University in 2012 is the Optometry Course Director and Head of Vision Science at Deakin University.

James’ clinical interests include the management of dry eye and glaucoma. His research interests outside of Optometry include the neurogenic control of blood pressure and understanding how the environment encountered during development can shape our cardiovascular health. James' optometric research seeks to understand the modulators of ocular blood flow.
