Gavin O’Callaghan is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and has worked in both private and hospital eye clinic settings.
He holds a post-graduate Master’s degree in Optometry, and Fellowships of the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia, the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society.
He is a member of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists.
He is Head of the Contact Lens Clinic in Ophthalmology Outpatients at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, which provides contact lenses for complex cornea patients. As part of this role he has an appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Adelaide.
He has served the profession as a Director of Optometry Australia for over 10 years, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Gavin is a Director of Sight for All, a charity which delivers medical, surgical, nursing and optometric education in partner countries in South East Asia. He has been actively involved in designing and implementing training courses in Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Myanmar.
